Painting With Cars

May 23, 2018

Sooooo last week I was cooped up in the house with two sick little boys for 3 1/2 days. By Sunday, both boys were congested, but they were better. Come Wednesday, Wesley was sick again. So now we have spent the last two days cooped up again.

We needed a little fun in our lives, so we bought some materials for a craft I had in mind: painting with cars!

Supplies needed:

  • Canvas, poster board, or craft paper.
  • Paint.
  • Toy cars. We had those at home!

The boys were super excited. I told them to pick out four cars a piece as I filled each canvas with dots of different color paint. They rather impatiently waited for me to finish as they poked at the paint dots with their fingers.

“On your mark, get set, go!!!” I called out and the painting began.

It was just as cool as I expected. The way the random patterns showed up in the paint really did look masterful!

The one thing I wasn’t prepared for was the craft being so quick. I guess I thought they could paint for hours.

I had to stop them after about ten minutes, because the colors weren’t just running together anymore they were starting to turn icky colors in the high “traffic” areas. They wanted to keep going, but I talked them into calling it quits.

I plan on hanging these in their bedrooms!

This was a great craft for kids! Wesley called me silly when I told him what we were going to do. They had a great time doing it, and I had a great time watching them! It helped Wesley forget for just a bit that he was having such a bad day.

It’s fun. It’s easy. It’s cheap. Plus, they make something you can keep forever!

I would love to hear all about any different/fun crafts you have done with your kiddo or favorite tiny human!

If you loved this post, I’m positive you will enjoy others. Find them here!

How cool! It’s so much fun for them! Our preschool has used marbles. That turned out really neat too!
