Over the next several weeks, there may be many of us at home. Maybe our work closed, our children’s school closed, or we are taking care of a sick loved one. Whatever the reason, cabin fever can easily set in when you’re stuck at home.
This doesn’t just apply to right now…
There any typically several reasons moms may be stuck at home for an extended period of time throughout the year.
Let me inspire you by giving you some ideas of things to do while you are stuck at home!
All of these ideas can be done with your family (if they are stuck at home with you) or by yourself.
Things To Do When You Are Stuck At Home
1. Spring Cleaning
Even if it isn’t spring, being stuck at home is a great time to clean out that closet you’ve been meaning to or reorganize kitchen cabinets.
These kinds of tasks are not ones I personally love doing them, but once I start them, I have a difficult time stopping!
2. Plan An Upcoming Event
Do you have a birthday party or holiday party to plan in the next several months? Get a jump start by picking out themes, decorations, invitations, venues, etc.
3. Enjoy Your Family
I’m always busy. I know you are too. So, use this time to plan some fun family time. Pick out some movies for family movie night or games for family game night. You can also create your own pizzas or sundaes, take turns reading to one another, or take some time to learn something new together! Get creative!
Do your kids love doing crafts like mine? Plan some for them! They can be as simple or elaborate as you like.

4. DIY
Find a DIY to complete. Anything is an option. Whether it’s painting the bathroom or making something to hang on the wall, there are so many options to choose from. When do we really get the time to do this kind of stuff? Now is a good time!
5. Experiment In The Kitchen
Is there a recipe you’ve been wanting to try? Have you always wanted to attempt a souffle?
Have fun in the kitchen and try something new!
6. Shop Online
Shop online for necessities or for fun! There are so many options today. If you need to go to the grocery store, but can’t, you can use an online delivery service.
Amazon is an obvious choice for just about anything you need… especially if you’re a Prime member.
Seriously, if you’ve never tried Amazon Prime before, you should.

7. Read
Read?? What’s that??
I can’t remember the last time I had time to read an entire book… let alone a chapter. My favorite genres are fiction (suspense, thriller) or autobiographies of cool folks.
8. Do a Puzzle
Who doesn’t love a good puzzle? Take over your kitchen or dining room table for a bit and get one done!
9. Rearrange
Rearrange furniture and/or wall decor. Changing up a room can be refreshing!
10. Make a Bucket List
A bucket list doesn’t have to have your life as an expiration date. Making a bucket list for the year or season is fun too.
Create one for each member of your family or create one together as a family.
Need some help? Here’s a post I wrote about creating a family bucket list. There’s a free bucket list printable too!
Use your time stuck at home to do things you don’t usually have the chance to do… and have fun with it!
Have ideas to add? I’d love to hear them!

I have been looking for fun things to do with the kids! And sometimes it might just be stay in your pj’s and watch a movie. I need to except that is okay right now. Obviously we are also making our DIY project list!
We had a movie marathon earlier this week, and it was refreshing! Netflix has added some great kid’s movies recently!
Good ideas! I love doing home projects but never seem to have enough time. Now I do! I’ve already organized my pantry and kitchen drawers!
Need of the hour. Almost the entire world is under lock down and people are wondering how to keep themselves occupied. Definetely a helpful post!
Autobiographies! Me too! Those are usually the only books I end up finishing. The crafts that you posted are great too. I’m already heading in the re-decorating direction. Might just do all DIY.
Great ideas! There are indeed so many things we can do productively even when stuck at home with the kids!
Great ideas. Also check out your kid’s schools websites for ideas.
Great advice! Thanks for sharing!
I keep hoping I’ll be able to sneak in some reading time, but for now I’m focused in helping to support parents and students. This is a great list to help people find purpose during this strange time.
Your list just made it into my weekend to do list 🙂
Great list! My husband has been cleaning a lot since he started working from home. I’m not complaining lol. We have also been decluttering, rearranging furniture and making space for new things for when we can go shopping again without feeling anxious.
Great ideas! I’m still currently workout outside of my home, but if I do end up staying home (I could with my job, my boss just won’t let me) I plan on doing some major cleaning, organizing and getting rid of alot of stuff I don’t need.
Same here mama!
Everything you’ve listed is everything I’m going to be doing throughout the weeks. Thanks for sharing.
yup, I’m pretty much blogging or spending time with my family. game and movie nights is my life now lol
Great tips! I’m all about Spring cleaning! I’ll be doing some decluttering and I will rearrange my furniture. Reading posts like this makes me feel calm and also gives me ideas of things to do during quarantine. Thanks a lot for sharing!
Thank you so much for sharing your suggestions! I know there will be a lot of books and puzzles in our future.
Yes girl! Here too! I’m still working outside of the house, so our schedule is all wacky 🤪
I absolutely LOVE this list! We are doing many of these and then we created our own list specifically for creators as well and are working our way down ours. Today, we’re doing #5 on our list “Take time to learn something new.” Watching some YouTube tutorials so that I can learn to edit videos better today. Thanks for reminding us that there are productive things we can do.
Love to hear it! Sounds like you’re having fun with it, that’s awesome!
Great list! You could also workout! My husband and I are very active. We usually workout 5-6 times a week. We recently bought some weights and go out for a jog, just to get fresh air. I also have lots of bands, so we get creative with our workouts these days.
Definitely a great idea! I saw were Beach Body is offering two weeks of free online classes!
