Wheels

April 6, 2018

My kiddo, William (Wheels), has been having a hard time lately. He’s the typical second child…. more difficult than the first. He always has been. Easy example: Wesley slept through the night for the first time at 6 weeks. William took two years. Even then he woke up between 4-4:30AM for the next year. Despite being difficult, he sure has a special place in mommy’s heart. I’m convinced he loves me more than anyone in this whole world has ever loved me. He is a mama’s boy through and through. He, being three, takes care of me when I’m sick, tells me to lay in his lap when I’m tired so he can rub my head, and brings me his favorite blankey when I’m upset. That’s a big deal. His blankey, AKA Blu Blu, is his favorite thing ever.

Lately he has been extra whiney and extra clingy. He’s always had a touch of an anger issue, although I believe that he’s only comfortable enough to act out that way around family, because he doesn’t at school. Plus he’s three. He throws things, stomps, slams doors, and rolls his eyes better than I could as a pre-teen. He is also the most loving little boy who really cares about others. Wesley is his best friend, even though all they want to do is aggravate each other. They are only 15 months apart (to the day!), so they are very similar in their current life stages.

Wesley has always loved school. William took a while to warm up to it. He had separation anxiety and dropping him off in the mornings was rough for a while. However, he got much better. Honey picks them up from school every day. Today she was told that while they were practicing for their end of the year program, William didn’t want to participate and cried the entire time. When I heard that it made me so sad! Something was wrong, and no one knew what. When I picked him up for the day from Nanny’s, I asked why he was so upset during his program practice. He quickly and knowingly responded, “I wanted my Wes Wes.” So, my heart broke a little more. All I could think to tell him was that he should have told his teacher. I believe if his teacher would have known, she would have made it possible for them to see each other, if only for a quick minute. (Their school is amazing!) Wesley starts kindergarten in August, so I’m fearful of how Wheels will feel when Wesley isn’t in the same building anymore. I need to figure it out before then!

I just don’t know what is going on with him, but I want to know what I can do to help him. Any suggestions?!
