Family-Friendly Valentine's Day Ideas

Once you have children, Valentine's Day completely changes. Rather than being about you and your loved one, it's about your family, valentine boxes, class parties, sweet treats.... well you catch my drift. It's totally important that you still make take for you and your significant other, but when you need someone to watch the kids you end up celebrating your Valentine's Day before or after the actual day. So, I understand that you need family-friendly Valentine's Day ideas!

So what do you do on Valentine's Day with you family? Here are some simple ideas...

Family-Friendly Valentine's Day Ideas

Bake Sweet Treats

Valentine's Day is known for the many sweet treats. Bake cookies, cupcakes, or whatever your family enjoys together as a family. It can be as simple or elaborate as you want it to be.

See a Family Movie

Going to the movies is a classic date idea for couples on Valentine's Day, so why should you change it? Just pick a movie that is great for the entire family!

Have a Party

Do you know another couple or two that are going to be at home with the kiddos on Valentine's Day? Invite them over for a simple party! Each family can bring a dish or sweet treat. You can plan an easy craft or game for the kiddos, and if you don't they will never know... just let them occupy each other by playing.

Be Fancy

Just because you guys are at home with the kids on Valentine's Day doesn't mean you can't be fancy. Set a nice table, light some candles, dim the lights, and have everyone dress up. It will be fun to do something out of the ordinary and let the kiddos feel "big." They get a kick out of using cocktail glasses for their drink too!

Game Night

Do your kids love playing games? Wesley literally always asks us to play games with him. (And we totally do play with him, just not every. single. time.) Make Valentine's Day a family game night. Pick one game or a couple of games, order some pizza, and have fun as a family!

Our favorite game right now is Ker Plunk!

Go On a Date

Take your family on a date. Go out to eat, play putt-putt, get ice cream, or do it all. Enjoy the time together and most importantly... talk to each other!

Homemade Valentines

Gather some craft supplies and spend some time making a homemade valentine for each member of the family! When everyone is done, exchange them and check them out together!

Have fun with your family on Valentine's Day and enjoy the quality time we often are moving too fast to notice.

If you can't spend alone time with you significant other on Valentine's Day, plan a day before or after to get that time in. You guys are important too!
